A LITTLE HUT.
A BIG LEGACY.
The story behind the crunch.
From a neighborhood favorite to a new generation, Mini Hut’s story has always come back to its Famous Butter-Crust Chicken!

CHICAGO MADE.
NEIGHBORHOOD LOVED.
Mini Hut’s story began in 1972. Its signature butter-crust chicken gave Chicago neighbors a reason to stop in—and a flavor to remember.
Over the years, the little Hut became part of the neighborhood’s food story. The familiar storefront, the chicken dinners, and that unmistakable golden crust made it a place people kept coming back to.
One little Hut.

DON’S LEGACY.
A FLAVOR THAT LASTS.
Don Engel is part of the Mini Hut story that longtime customers remember: the people, the kitchen, and the butter-crust chicken that made this small restaurant special.
That history matters. As Mini Hut enters a new chapter, the connection to Don Engel and the founding family remains part of its identity.
BRETT TAKES OVER.
THE STORY CONTINUES.
For Brett Gomez, a neighborhood resident, taking over Mini Hut meant bringing a local favorite back to the community.
With the blessing of Don Engel and the founding family, Brett reopened Mini Hut in Garfield Ridge in 2025, carrying its history and signature butter-crust chicken into a new chapter.
Today, Brett is helping introduce Mini Hut to another generation, with Garfield Ridge and Darien continuing the story. At the center of it all is the chicken that started it.

NEW CHAPTER.
SAME MINI HUT SOUL.
The golden crust. The familiar flavor. The neighborhood spirit. We’re proud to carry Mini Hut’s story forward, one chicken dinner at a time.
Served Since 1972!
